- Song Info :
The song that broke Whitney's career in the UK was
'Saving All My Love For You' which climbed to be the
Christmas No 1 in the British charts in 1985 having already
hit the top spot in the US in October. It's a sophisticated and
sexy ballad of forbidden love and is certainly more raunchy
than many of the ballads she has recorded since. The song,
like The Greatest Love of All, almost never got recorded
as Arista supremo Clive Davis was against it.
He had Whitney redo the song because at first she sang
it like Aretha Franklin would sing it.
Written by Michael
Masser and Gerry Goffin, 'Saving All My Love For You' was
originally recorded by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr.
- from "The A to Z Whitney Houston" by Alan Stuart
