New Whitney biography

Here are details about a new Whitney book to be published in October 2003 - From amazon.fr - Book description: The unauthorized biography of the mercurial diva and her public fall from grace. - Publisher comments: Whitney Houston burst onto the music scene in 1985 with a stunning debut album, garnering numerous awards, including a Grammy for the single, “Saving All My Love for You.” Since then, she’s released limited new material, yet she retains her preeminence in the industry and her enormous popularity with fans. Similarly, as an actress, since starring in the blockbuster movie The Bodyguard, she’s chosen to appear in only three other movies. Still, she remains much in demand among casting directors. Now James Robert Parish reflects on the extraordinary journey that has taken her from a difficult childhood, to becoming the protégée of powerful Arista producer Clive Davis, to today’s diva, mired in rumors of peculiar behavior and drug abuse. He also looks at how the shy, pretty young girl from a devout background became the subject of lurid tabloid gossip, much of it focused on her turbulent relationship with her husband, bad–boy hiphop star Bobby Brown.

James Robert Parish is the author of many biographies and reference books on the entertainment industry, including The Hollywood Book of Death and Hollywood Divas.

Whitney in 'Essence'

From extratv.com - She's seen the highest highs and the lowest lows. Now Whitney Houston is spilling her story in the new issue of Essence magazine. Mikki Taylor, editor of Essence says, "Here's the truth in Whitney's own words."

Words written about Whitney include alleged drug abuse, reports of an eating disorder, and the recent death of her father. Taylor says despite the singer's often-turbulent relationship with husband Bobby Brown, he is the reason this woman still rocks. Taylor says, "She says it's been called the princess and the bad boy. That's just a myth. They're just two people in love."

Now the star is rising, resurrected it seems, with the help of spiritual friends. Whitney and Bobby recently visited the Black Hebrews religious group in Israel. The diva tells Essence that an unlikely source started this personal rebirth: Pebbles, the former founder of music group TLC. Taylor says, "Everyone needs a sister friend to remind you of the truth of who you are."

And so, this incredible singer is back, happy, healthy and ready to make more music, answering the prayers of millions of fans.
