Lead US Single (?)
BET's Videolink reported today that Whitney is finishing the final touches
of her new album, and said L.A. Reid confirmed that Whitney's
remake of Debby Boone's 1977 No. 1 hit, "You Light Up My Life", will be the
lead single in the USA. Note: "You Light Up My Life" by Debby Boone
stayed at Number One for 10 weeks in 1977 and won her a Grammy Award for
Best New Artist. According to some insiders, the Whitney version
is beautiful and it has been announced as
the new "I Will Always Love You" !

'Whatchullokinat' on the charts...
"Whatchulookinat" (Arista) is the 35th Whitney Houston song to debut
on The Billboard Hot 100-and, at No. 96, is her lowest-debuting single to date.
Until now, "It's Not Right but It's Okay," which opened at No. 87 in May 1999,
was her lowest debut as a solo artist. That song peaked at No. 4, so a low debut
does not preclude a big finish. "Whatchulookinat" is available as a commercial
single and enters the Hot 100 Singles Sales chart at No. 71. The song has not appeared
on Hot 100 Airplay yet. For the record, Houston's lowest debut before "Whatchulookinat"
was her first chart entry. "Hold Me," a duet with Teddy Pendergrass, debuted at No. 89
in June 1984 and peaked a month later at No. 46. [From Billboard
Note: For now, "Whatchulookinat" is only available as a 12" vinyl in the US.

Whitney still in the studio...
As announced previously, Whitney is still recording tracks
for her new album. She worked with Rodney Jerkins at the beginning of this
week and is going to Los Angeles to finish several tracks with Babyface.
The final selection has not been made yet. All the tracklistings on the net are fake.
Whitney is working a lot to finish the album as soon as possible. The release date
is not fixed yet and the dates that can be seen on the net are not officially confirmed.
A limited edition of the new album containing a special dvd with 'behind the scenes'
will be released. A dvd with unreleased videos and live performances
as well as the MLIYL tour documentary are also planned to be released.

No "Whatchulookinat" video...
Houston: Let's Not Go to the Videotape -
Don't look for a video to go along
with Whitney Houston's new media-bashing
single, "Whatcha Lookin' At?," from her
upcoming album. The Grammy-winning diva was supposed to
start filming the video last Monday [Aug 5] but postponed it
until Wednesday. By Thursday, the production was called
off entirely. It was to be directed by Dave Meyers, one of the music industry's
most in-demand talents, responsible for Enrique Iglesias's steamy "Escape"
video with Anna Kournikova, Janet Jackson's "All for You,"
and Britney Spears's "Lucky," among many others.
A rep for Houston confirms the shoot's been
canceled and isn't sure whether it will ever be rescheduled:
"Arista did not move forward on the video because
the album wasn't finished, and they regarded it as
more important to finish the album than the video."

The
album will blow you away...
Whatchulookinat? -
Report from click2music.co.uk
dated 1 August 2002
Whitney is about to blow all her critics away with her
new as yet untitled album and the first single Whatchulookinat?
It's been a while since Whitney released an album of
all new material but believe us the wait has been worth it.
Currently penned in for a September 16th release,
Whitneys first studio album since the amazing
My Love is Your Love sees Whitney on fine form.
A combination of up-tempo R&B alongside trademark
ballads, the new album will blow you away.
